we began moka studio in 2020, focusing on custom hand embroidery as a way to extend the life of existing garments through repair, personalization and reuse. while embroidery remains at the heart of our practice, the studio has grown into a broader exploration of craft, circularity and responsible design, creating functional accessories from second-hand garments, deadstock fabrics and locally sourced materials.

our work is grounded in slow making and the belief that creative practice can help foster a more thoughtful relationship with the objects we live with. rather than following fast production cycles, we value patience, experimentation and the time it takes to make things well.

skateboarding is also a significant source of inspiration for Moka. both of us skate, and many of the values we find in skateboarding — patience, resilience, experimentation and embracing imperfection — closely mirror our approach to making. we see creativity as an ongoing practice of learning, where mistakes become part of the process and progress unfolds gradually over time.

moka studio is also a space for learning and exchange, offering workshops in hand embroidery and other crafts that encourage skill-sharing, support repair culture and create opportunities for community connection.

recently, we took part in Mind Pop Up at Melbourne Fashion Week 2025, a showcase of local designers committed to circular and regenerative approaches to fashion.
